Some remarks by Tim Robson

Went to see this gig, although the venue was horrible, it was only £5 admission, the band as ever were brilliant. There was only around 100-150 people there, but they did seem to be enjoying themselves. Usual set, although I think it was shorter than usual (but not sure what was missed out) finishing with 'Being Boiled'

Managed to have a quick chat with Glenn afterwards, shook all their hands and got my Penthouse & Pavement CD inlay signed by the band, so it was worthwhile for that !!

26. July 2002

Chester Music Festival

Heaven 17 will appear on the Chester Music Festival on Friday 26th July 2002. This gig is from the "80s Gold" Tour.

Short review by Peter Cross

Heaven 17 (yes with Ian and Martin!) were playing along with ABC and Spandau Ballet. Anyway H17 played all their big hits and sounded absolutely great. For the encore Glen came back on stage and said they had no more H17 songs to play but that they were going to do a Human League song. They then played the Travelogue version of 'Being Boiled', with Glen Gregory on vocals. He introduced the song by saying "its a really old song written by Ian and Martin together with Phil" A perfect way to round off their set.

Vince and myself have written a suite of music to which a ballet will be performed by members of the Royal Ballet in the Clore Theatre in the Royal Opera House on Feb 5th and 6th (world premiere).

A few tickets are still available from the ROH box office on 020 7304 4000. Ask for tickets to the Vanessa Fenton piece ‘Knots’.

The ballet is a visualisation of the music which is based on a poem by R.D. Lang called 'Knots'.

Glenn has very kindly agreed to appear at our weekend Event (25th to 28th Jan) performing at both the songwriters session on the Saturday afternoon, where he will be talking (along with other guests such as Scott Gorham from Thin Lizzy and Mark Brzezicki, Big Country) about the songwriter's craft, and at the evening performance that day where it's intended to perform Temptation, and possibly some other Midge/Glenn tracks!!

Info from Peggy

Well the way Glenn came up in his leather long jack was really really fantastic!!! He sang "Temptation" really really good even better than on the real single... He almost laughed the whole weekend....he really enjoyed it !!! and so did Midge :))))
